LP Black Nile Indigo Garden

The latest release from Lawrence and Aaron Shaw - the LA-based brothers perform as Black Nile - and the second title from Mass MoCA Records. Indigo Garden is the result of the brothers' June 2025 residency at the museum, which included recording sessions for the album and a museum performance.  

As longtime collaborators, Lawrence and Aaron Shaw channel a near-telepathic musical chemistry that shapes both their sound and their live performances. Blending tradition with innovation, and rooted in a commitment to push boundaries by dissecting and mixing genres and instrumentation, the sound of the Shaw brothers is a sonic movement traversing Jazz, R&B, Soul, Hip-Hop, Alt, Rock, and Folk.

The album was produced by Harlan Steinberger and recorded both at Studio 9 in North Adams, MA and at Steinberger’s Hen House Studios in Venice Beach, CA. The cover art is by renowned conceptual artist Charles Gaines.
