The first album on our new record label MASS MoCA Records-- the self-titled debut from The Kasambwe Brothers brings Malawian roots music from the streets of Ndirande to North Adams. The Kasambwe Brothers performed for audiences while in residence in MASS MoCA and the album was recorded at Studio 9 by Harlan Steinberger of Hen House Studios. Full of songs of love that speak to life on the ground for people in Malawi, the album has been getting powerful reviews in the US. Variety said it’s “grounded in the rich, musical heritage of Malawi”, and The Boston Globe said it “transcends words and genres.”
