Peter Sutherland’s Collages emerge from a territory that is both geographic and psychological: a landscape of back roads, the American West, and the communities and cultures that take shape beyond dominant narratives. Through the assemblage of his photographs—sometimes layered with printed ephemera, stickers, and found materials—the artist creates works that function as sensitive maps of contemporary American experience.
