In conjunction with the exhibition An Indigenous Present, artist Teresa Baker has created a limited-edition blanket in collaboration with the ICA that combines her drawing practice with weaving to produce a unique artwork in wool and cotton. The blanket’s marks and colors reference both minimalist mark-making and 19th-century women’s beaded Hidatsa robes. Additionally, Baker’s design challenges the rectilinear lines of loom-woven objects to emphasize the artist's hand within the blanket.
Teresa Baker is an enrolled member of the Three Affiliated Tribes in Western, ND.
Crafted with meticulous care by Faribault Mill, on their state-of-the-art jacquard looms in Faribault, Minnesota, this luxurious throw is a harmonious blend of 85% wool and 15% cotton. This blanket measures 48" x 72".
Since 1865, Faribault Mill has been making high-quality wool and cotton goods in a historic mill nestled along the Cannon River in Minnesota. For over 160 years, they’ve remained one of the last fully integrated "vertical" mills in the country—meaning every step, from raw fiber to finished product, happens under one roof.
