Andrew Demirjian is an artist who works with data and archives. Here, he mines a more personal history, his adolescent obsession with collecting live recordings of The Who. This book is a tactile interface to another era, an homage to audio culture, dubbed and hand written in a time that was more materially sensuous, less efficient, and unoptimized.
Demirjian's collection came about through his chance recording of a Western Massachusetts radio broadcast of The Who’s complete Woodstock performance. Among bootleg collectors, it was extremely hard to find, and other fans offered their rarest recordings for trade. It began a two-year exchange economy within a global community of collectors. Made in an edition of one hundred.
