This book documents sTo Len’s residency with the NY Department of Sanitation from 2021- 2023 as part of the PAIR Program created by the NY Department of Cultural Affairs. Using photographs and archival material, Len’s Visual Annual Report shares the artist’s journey through the waste stream by pairing his own experiences with historical records. From ride alongs on sanitation trucks and visits to waste transfer stations, landfills, and incinerators to revitalizing a screen-printing shop and a sanitation TV studio in the department’s Central Repair Shop, this behind the scenes vantage point is a unique look at the world’s largest sanitation department through the lens of an embedded artist.
